In wastewater treatment, PTFE membranes may be used in different forms, including microfiltration, ultrafiltration, MBR membrane modules and membrane contactors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One application is MBR wastewater treatment. PTFE membrane modules can be used for solid-liquid separation in biological treatment systems. They help retain suspended solids and microorganisms while allowing treated water to pass through. MBR systems are often used in municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater reuse and decentralized wastewater treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another application is high-suspended-solids wastewater filtration. PTFE membranes may be considered when wastewater contains fine particles, sludge or other materials that require stable separation. The actual suitability depends on wastewater composition and operating conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">PTFE membranes are also used in membrane contactor applications. Because PTFE can be hydrophobic, it can be used as a gas-liquid contact interface in degassing, ammonia removal, membrane distillation and carbon dioxide capture processes. In these applications, the membrane acts as a contact medium rather than a simple filter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">However, PTFE membranes are not all the same. A PTFE MBR membrane, a PTFE degassing membrane and a PTFE membrane distillation module may have different structures, pore sizes, operating methods and application limits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before selecting a PTFE membrane product, project owners should clarify the application: filtration, MBR, ammonia removal, degassing, membrane distillation or gas-liquid contact. Each application requires different technical data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For wastewater projects, water quality, temperature, pH, suspended solids, oil content, chemical compatibility and cleaning method should be evaluated.
